How big of trailer do I need to haul my L4330, with the LA853 loader and the BH90 backhoe? I have the weight of the tractor, but don't have the weight of the attachments. I can figure out the dimensions I need, just worried about capacity. I'm thinking going gooseneck, depending on which truck is better suite to pulling it.

Thanks,
John

We use a 20', 10,000gvw trailer for our 3830,loader, and Woods BH9000. Pretty much the same size as what you've got. The trailer is just long enough - could use a couple more feet sometimes. We're ok with bumperpull, with 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. ....

I think that rig will overload a 7000 pound gvw trailer by a goodly margin. The next step up is the 10,000 pound gvw.

I terms of length, my 4115 Deere T/L/B fills up every inch of a 16 footer, so you will certainly need one longer than that. ....

I use an 18ft. triple axle (GVW of 11,220lbs.)with beaver-tail. It is a bumper pull with 2 5/16 ball. I like the triple axle because you don't need to place the load so exact since you have lots of length over the spread of the axles. ....

As was mentioned, you certainly don't want anything less than 18', especially if it's a tagalong trailer, if it's a gooseneck you can put the FEL up over the hitch, but that can make it pretty hitch heavy.

I have a L4310 with FEL, and with an 18' 10k# I have to flip the caster wheels up on my flail mower to fit it on the deck with the bucket on the FEL and sitting down flat, or the ramps won't go up.

I would have gone to a 20' or bigger trailer, but since my truck is already long enough as it is, I decided to stay with just an 18' deck. If I need to pack more goodies I have a 24' triaxle deckover that goes behind my 5 ton truck, which has another 18' of deck and a crane to load & unload the toys, with a combined 42' of deck space I manage, most of the time. ;->

Best of luck. ....

As has already been mentioned, you are gonna need a LOT longer and heavy duty trailer. I have a 14 ft. Jamar 7,000 car hauler trailer and my 4410 with the FEL and filled tires was every bit of what this trailer could handle and probably too much. I could not get the weight distribution right without loading the tractor with the FEL bucket raised into the air and over my pickup truck bed. (not a good way to haul a tractor but that was all I had at the time) I would suggest at the minimum a 20 ft. gooseneck or better yet a 24 ft. goose neck trailer with at least 12,000 lbs. capacity and electric brakes on BOTH axles. It will surprise you how much length a tractor with a FEL and hoe can take up when PROPERLY loaded. (be mindful of the hoe dipper stick height when loaded on the trailer so you don't hit any bridges or overpasses, etc.) A little extra length also leaves you some fudge factor to carry along a few other implements or other equipment. Triple axles trailes are real nice with respect to load distribution but are a royal pain in the butt when it comes to making sharp turns. They can really be bad about dragging tires around turns and in some cases over stressing the undercarriage. ....

I like carring the load low and the 10,000lb capacity is fine with a tandem. Do study the tires to be sure they also are of a rating to carry the load. The deck minimum would be 18' and a 20' could be used depending on your terrain. We are hilly here and sometimes the 20' trailers with a low deck and beaver tail like a landscaper would use would tend to drag going in and out of driveways as even 18's will on my home drive. The BH90 with it's design is high on the tractor unlike normal subframe backhoe attachments so it can handle steeper inclines with out digging into driveways while loading and unloading. ....

Good point Art.

Read those tire sidewalls, and replace them when they start showing weather checking/cracking.

Cheap tires are no bargain either. I have had then blow and then catch fire on the interstate. NOT fun. ....
